Logistics process at the University Library
SORD processes Theses/Dissertations that contain sufficient experimental procedures for the preparation of organic compounds for inclusion in the SOR Database. Before SORD can process this chemical information, author permission must be obtained. The logistics process at the Department or Library contains the following steps:
- SORD provides the Department or Library with its selection criteria that describe which Theses/Dissertations are to be processed by SORD;
- The Department or Library makes a collection of those Theses/Dissertations meeting the selection criteria;
- A representative of SORD inspects this collection at the Department or Library and makes a final selection of the Theses/Dissertations that will be processed by SORD;
- The selected Theses/Dissertations are dispatched to a company with which SORD has an agreement for scanning the Theses/Dissertations, together with an indication as to which Theses/Dissertations must later be returned to the Department or Library after processing;
- The Department or Library contacts each author of the Theses/Dissertations in this final selection and obtains permission for SORD to use the chemical information as described in “Author permission to SORD B.V.”;
- SORD sends the Department or Library the PDF file of each Thesis/Dissertation processed by SORD;
- SORD returns to the Department or Library those Theses/Dissertations as required.
